چکیده

Rearrangements of chromosome band 1 1 q23 are common in infant leukemias, comprising more than 70% of the observed chromosome abnormalities in children less than 1 year of age. The MLL gene, which is located at the 1 1 q23 breakpoint in infant, childhood, and adult acute leukemias, has been cloned and has homology to the Drosophila trithorax gene. The breakpoints in MLL are restricted to an 8.3-kilobase pair (kb) region of the gene that is involved in translocations with as many as 29 other chromosomal regions in a number of phenotypically distinct acute leukemias. We have detected an identical, clonal, nonconstitutional rearrangement of the MLL gene in peripheral blood

Detection Of 11q23 Gene Rearrangement In Children With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia And Its Association With Demographic Data and Response To Initial Chemotherapy On The Seventh Day Of Induction

Background: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common form of childhood cancer leading to cancer-related death in children. Most infants with ALL harbor recurring structural chromosomal rearrangements that are important initiating events in leukemogenesis but are insufficient to explain the biology and heterogeneity of the disease. Mixed-lineage leukemia-rearrangement (MLL-rearrange...

Diversity of T-cell receptor Gene Rearrangements in South Indian Patients with Common Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Background: Precursor B-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (precursor B-ALL) oc-curs due to the uncontrolled proliferation of B-lymphoid precursors arrested at a par-ticular stage of B-cell development. Precursor-B-ALL is classified mainly into pro-B-ALL, common-ALL and pre-B-ALL. The Common Acute Lymphoblastic Antigen CD10 is the marker for common-ALL. Objective: This study was aimed to examine the ...

Brief report Presence of clone-specific antigen receptor gene rearrangements at birth indicates an in utero origin of diverse types of early childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia

There is strong evidence that infant leukemias with a t(4;11) translocation originate in utero. To test whether other subtypes of childhood leukemias are also initiated during fetal life, we used clonespecific genetic markers for the analysis of neonatal blood spots from 5 children aged 6 months to 4 years 8 months at diagnosis of pro-B, common acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), and T-ALL. In ...
